Dark Ages

In early 2015, director, James Bushe and cinematographer, Simon Rowling, inspired by their love of the action movies of the 1980s and 1990s began work on a short fan film, Predator Dark Ages. Intended as a bit of fun, and an opportunity to test the skills they had built up over years of experience in the film industry, the movie, which was crowdfunded through the website Kickstarter has been viewed over 1.5 million times on YouTube.

The unexpected success of the short inspired the pair. Realising how much could be done with a relatively small amount of money, they decided to begin work on an action movie in a similar setting, and approached Black Arrow Pictures to develop the idea. Black Arrow Pictures then partnered with Sweet Potato Productions who are financing development of the project.

Focusing on a group of Crusader Knights in the days following the Siege of Malta in 1565, the film sees them attacked by a ruthless monster while they are attempting to escort a Papal envoy across the island.

The screenplay is being written by The Brothers Lynch, who were named ‘Stars of Tomorrow’ by Screen International in 2013.
